Moving Gay Head Lighthouse Part of the 3D Division's work come to fruition!

The day has come when the Gay Head Lighthouse is to be moved from its current location on the western end of Martha's Vineyard, to a new safer location. However, the new location is only about 130 feet back where the lighthouse will rest on a newly formed concrete platform. The lighthouse was settled on the edge of the Gay Head Cliffs, which were created about 20 million years ago from the receding of the glaciers. The lighthouse became at risk when erosion was a threat to the cliffs where they would lose about two feet every year.

The Climate March 2014

On Sunday, September 21st in New York City, one of the greatest events happened; The Climate March! Though there was not nearly enough media coverage, there was a peaceful gathering of approximately 400,000 people joined together.

Signs were made and carried, talks were given, information was shared. There was not a moment where an opportunity for learning was not offered.
People from all walks of life, as well as celebrities and politicians marched together to make the actions toward the climate recognized and changed.
"Actions Change the World!" As we marched for change, a feeling of solidarity was overwhelming. Will there be a change? To this date,
“The front-lines of the climate crisis are low-income people, communities of color and indigenous communities here in the US and around the globe. We are the hardest hit by both climate disruption––the storms, floods and droughts––as well as by the extractive, polluting and wasteful industries causing global warming,” said Cindy Wiesner, Co-Director of The Climate Justice Alliance.

The next step is to acknowledge the dire need for ACTION and CHANGE!
